Bafana Bafana legend Siyabonga Nomvethe has been awarded an honourary doctorate by the St Paul Bible Institute in Umlazi.

Nomvethe recently called time on a stellar career with AmaZulu which included spells playing all over the world.

Nonetheless, ‘Bhele‘ has been awarded a doctorate for his contribution to sport.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates star joins the likes of fellow legends Jomo Sono and Dr Irvin Khoza in being awarded the accolade.

Sono got a honourary doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Zululand in 2004, whereas, Sono was awarded two doctorates from the University of Dubai and University of London in 2016.

The 41-year-old is the Premiership’s all-time leading scorer with an impressive 121 goals to his name.

During his career he also struck 16 times for Bafana Bafana.
