The visitors took the lead in the sixth minute through defender Ntshuxeko Mkhabela before TJ Hendricks responded with an equalizer six minutes later.

Vasco began dominating in the second half and were soon rewarded as Hendricks put them in the lead in the 57th minute before adding a third after Brigades conceded a penalty (76′) that was converted by Tauriq Dean.

Michel Phigeland put the icing on the cake for the home side in the 84th minute with a well taken goal to help Vasco advance to the Round of 16.

Durban City 0-0 Chippa United (City win 3-2 on penalties)

The home side almost scored in the very first minute at Chatsworth Stadium with defender Fezile Gcaba coming close to scoring following good work from Samkelo Maseko.

City had the first shot on target eight minutes later with Dumisani Msibi saving Saziso Magawana’s attempt before Chippa’s Sinoxolo Kwayiba had his shot saved by Darren Keet(20th).

Both sides could not create clear chances in the first stanza, forcing the Chilli Boys to make a double substitution at half time.

That being said, neither team could break the deadlock in a physical second half with numerous fouls committed throughout as the fixture went into extra-time.

City’s Kyle Jurgens and Sphiwe Mahlangu came closest to scoring in the first half of extra time but could not direct their attempts on target.

The Durban based side pushed for a winner but could not find a way past a determined Dumisani Msibi in Chippa’s goal as the match headed into penalties.

Haashim Domingo (City) and Xolani Sithole (Chippa) missed the opening spot kicks in the shootout before Keet saved Kaketso Majadibodu penalty to hand the home side the victory.
