This prestigious announcement, made on Sunday evening, pits the Soweto Giants against each other on Saturday, 10 May 2025.
The Nedbank Cup, renowned for its captivating underdog stories and dramatic clashes, has a history of being hosted in various vibrant stadiums across South Africa.
Last year witnessed the spectacle unfold at the Mbombela Stadium, while Loftus Versfeld Stadium played host to the 2023 edition. In both those electrifying finals, Orlando Pirates emerged victorious, etching their name in the competition’s history books.

Now, the Buccaneers stand on the cusp of an unprecedented treble, having secured their third consecutive final appearance. Their opponents in this year’s showdown will be none other than their Soweto neighbors, Kaizer Chiefs, who booked their place after a dramatic and hard-fought victory over Mamelodi Sundowns.
This will be the first time in six years that the coveted Nedbank Cup final will grace the hallowed turf of the Moses Mabhida Stadium, a venue celebrated for its stunning architecture and passionate football crowds.
South African football fans can expect a memorable week of derby action, with the second and final league installment set for a week earlier, on the 3rd of May at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
