Nasreddine Nabi’s message to his players before the Cape Town City match

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has encouraged his players to treat each of the remaining Betway Premiership matches this season with the same intensity as a “cup final.”

Following their impressive 3-1 victory over Stellenbosch in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals, Chiefs now shift their focus back to the Betway Premiership, where they will host City at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

Having suffered a defeat against Cape Town City in the reverse fixture, Nabi emphasized the importance of securing maximum points this time around.

“We’ve closed the chapter on the cup win and are now fully focused on the league,” Nabi said during a media open day at Naturena on Monday.

“This game against City is crucial. I want my players to show the same spirit they displayed in our last match. City are a strong side, despite their recent struggles.”

The Tunisian tactician also admitted that he is eager to get the better of City’s coach, Muhsin Ertugral, who guided his team to victory when the sides last met in Cape Town.

“Ertugral beat me in Cape Town, and we cannot let that happen again. Kaizer Chiefs need the points, and we must treat every match as if it’s a cup final.”

Chiefs currently sit in eighth place on the Betway Premiership standings, having amassed just 28 points from 20 matches.

A win against City would provide a much-needed boost as they push for a stronger finish to the season.
