Nasreddine Nabi rallies home support as Kaizer Chiefs aim for top eight spot

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has called on the club’s passionate supporters to back the team in their decisive final league match against Polokwane City.

Chiefs, currently ninth on the Betway Premiership table following a 1-1 draw with Sekhukhune United, must win on Saturday to break into the top eight and secure a place in next season’s MTN8 tournament.

“If you look at the table, I think it is a situation that will be resolved in the last game, [at] the last minute. But we are going to do everything [to finish in the top eight],” said Nabi.

“We are confident. We are playing at home in the last game, and we will have our supporters.

“Everyone knows how important it is [to finish in the top eight]. I appeal to our fans to come to FNB Stadium for our last game.

“We need them because the game is very important. We need these three points, and we need them to support us to win the game.”

Nabi, who arrived at the start of the 2024–25 campaign and brought in his own high-profile technical staff, has described the season as a rebuilding phase.

Despite inconsistency in the league, there has been cause for celebration. Chiefs recently ended a ten-year trophy drought by defeating Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final in Durban.

The cup triumph has given fans hope, but Nabi knows that failure to qualify for MTN8 could place pressure on his position, with club management reportedly monitoring the situation closely.
