Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says his team is highly motivated to defeat rivals Orlando Pirates and win the second Betway Premiership Soweto derby of the season.
Amakhosi are enduring a difficult campaign under head coach Nasreddine Nabi in ninth place on the Betway Premiership standings with five games of their season to play.
Pirates, conversely, are in second place and still fighting to catch leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
The two sides will, however, meet up in the Nedbank Cup final next week, but before then must do duty in the league.
The last time these two sides faced each other, Pirates emerged with a 1-0 victory, and despite having failed to win any off their last six matches, Nabi insists Amakhosi “can do something” this time around.
He said in the Citizen: “Believe me, this is not to give myself courage. But before the derby on Saturday and the Nedbank Cup final the team and players are in a different move than in previous games. This is a (league) derby and then a final and it is something that everyone wants (to win).
“We say the biggest clubs can get ill but they never die.
“And we believe we are the biggest club in South Africa. At this time we might be a bit ill but we still believe we are alive and can do something.”
Nabi added: “The first derby was a very good, entertaining game, decided by a small detail in the last minute.
“But we believe we deserved better in that game from our performance.
“Saturday’s game, as with any other derby, will be a very tough game. (But) we are better than for the first one, in what we can do. I think the possibilities are open for both teams.”
