Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has called for calm following his side’s 3-1 defeat to Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday.
Bradley Grobler opened the scoring for Babina Noko at the FNB Stadium after just five minutes.
Flavio Silva levelled with his goal after 13 minutes but Grobler restored Sekhukhune’s lead with his second goal of the night after 50 minutes.
Thabang Monare then sealed the result with his effort after 56 minutes.
It was Chiefs’ first defeat of the new Betway Premiership season to leave the club in third place on the league standings with 13 points, while Sekhukhune occupy first place with 16 points, from six games.
Speaking after the match, Nabi said in the Citizen that his side were not good enough against Eric Tinkler’s in-form team.
He explained: “I would say we knew going into this game that it was a difficult game against a difficult opponent.
“But I feel we made a lot of mistakes that led to goals. Sekhukhune posed us a lot of problems, especially in transition and with long balls that we couldn’t deal with.
“We were not good enough today, even in our offensive game. We created some opportunities but it wasn’t good enough to control the game or to be in front. I don’t think there is any need to panic. We just need to learn from our mistakes and go into the next game with more conviction and concentration.
“Sekhukhune deserved the three points today.”
Chiefs are next in action against Kabuscorp in the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.
“We spoke to the players, accidents can happen, but what we need to see is a reaction. We need to keep our heads up and be ready for the next game. The continental game is over two legs, it is a knockout (tie) and we need a different approach,” added Nabi.
