SuperSport United‘s goal-scoring drought continued as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Marumo Gallants in their Betway Premiership clash on Friday night.
The decisive moment arrived in the 12th minute when Siyabulela Shai was brought down in the penalty area by Bilal Baloyi. Edgar Manaka stepped up to convert the penalty, giving Gallants the early lead.
Despite Bradley Grobler having a couple of chances towards the end of the first half, Gallants’ goalkeeper Washington Arubi stood tall to deny the SuperSport striker.
The second half saw Gallants continue their strong performance, undeterred by their lowly position on the table. Shai tested Mbanjwa with a powerful shot, while Arubi made a crucial save to thwart Ghampani Lungu.
SuperSport had a few late opportunities to equalize, but Dzukamanja’s shot missed the post and his header went wide. Gallants’ defense held firm, securing a vital three points and extending Matsatsantsa’s goal-scoring woes.
