Martin Ødegaard is a Norwegian professional footballer renowned for his technical ability, vision, and playmaking skills. He currently captains both Arsenal FC in the Premier League and the Norwegian national team, playing primarily as an attacking midfielder.
Ødegaard’s football journey began at Strømsgodset, a Norwegian club, where he made his professional debut at just 15 years old, becoming the youngest player and goal-scorer in the Norwegian top division. His prodigious talent caught the attention of major European clubs, and in January 2015, he signed with Real Madrid at the age of 16, making him one of the most high-profile young talents in football.
At Madrid, he struggled to secure a first-team spot, leading to various loan spells at clubs such as Heerenveen, Vitesse, and Real Sociedad. During his time at Real Sociedad, Ødegaard particularly impressed, helping the team reach the final of the Copa del Rey in 2020.
In 2021, Ødegaard moved to Arsenal, initially on loan before signing permanently later that year. Under manager Mikel Arteta, he quickly established himself as a key player, eventually being named captain in 2022. His leadership on and off the pitch has been widely praised, as he helped guide Arsenal back to the top ranks of the Premier League.
For the Norwegian national team, Ødegaard has been a regular since 2014, making his debut at just 15. He became the team’s captain in 2021, further cementing his role as one of Norway’s brightest footballing stars.
