Manqoba Mngqithi Latest News

Manqoba Mngqithi (born 25 April 1971 in Umzimkhulu) is a South African soccer coach. Regarded as one of the most decorated managers in the country, he has managed a number of clubs in the Premier Soccer League including Lamontville Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns where he found major success.

He has been a coach for more than 15 years and is a former schoolteacher by profession.

In 2020 Mngqithi became co-coach of Mamelodi Sundowns alongside Rulani Mokwena. In October 2022, “Mngqithi was assigned to a new role as Sundowns’ senior coach in what is a demotion from the position of co-coach.

After the shocking departure of Rulani Mokwena ahead of the 2024/25 season, Sundowns appointed Manqoba Mngqithi as head coach with Steve Komphela making a return to The Brazilians after a short stint with former club Lamontville Golden Arrows.

Mngqithi later added former AmaZulu head coach Roman Folz to his technical team, making up the trio of coaches for the 2024/25 season. 

The trio latest only four months at the helm as Manqoba and Folz were replaced by Miguel Cardoso and three new members of his technical team, Komphela retained his spot.
