Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has addressed growing speculation surrounding defender Khuliso Mudau, confirming that the player is edging closer to a return.
Mudau has been absent from the matchday squad since the season kicked off, fueling rumours of a possible departure from Chloorkop.
That being said, following the Brazilians’ emphatic 3-0 win over Magesi FC at Lucas Moripe Stadium last Sunday, Cardoso clarified the situation, stating that Mudau resumed training two weeks ago and is steadily being reintegrated into the squad.

“Khuliso is still resolving his issues with the club, but he’s been training very well. I’m confident he will be available soon to help the team. The club is handling things with the right responsibilities and intentions,” said Cardoso after the game.
“As much as we need him back, we can’t rush him. He was training on his own for a long time, and it would be unfair to throw him into high-intensity matches right away,” he explained.
“He is an international player, and if he’s not at his best, people might start criticising him unfairly.”
Cardoso added that gradual steps are being put in place to ensure Mudau’s return comes at the right time, with a focus on long-term impact rather than short-term gain.
“There are processes we are following to get him back to peak condition. As a coach, I must protect my players, and I can promise he will be ready soon,” he said.
Sundowns currently lead the Betway Premiership standings with 14 points from six matches, and Mudau’s return will further strengthen their defensive depth.
