MAGESI FC SENDS A STERN WARNING TO ORLANDO PIRATES

Magesi CEO John Mathibe has warned Orlando Pirates to not expect an easy game in the Carling Knockout Cup last 16.

The two sides were drawn to face each other at the Orlando Stadium this weekend.

Pirates are in fine form heading into this tie, unbeaten in their last 11 matches in all competitions.

They have also already won their first silverware this season, beating Stellenbosch FC 3-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium earlier this month to lift the MTN8.

Pirates have now won three MTN8 titles under head coach Jose Riveiro as well as two Nedbank Cups although they did exit this competition at the quarter-final stage last term to Richards Bay on penalties.

Newly-promoted Magesi, meanwhile, have one win, one draw and two losses from their opening four games of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

Mathibe said on iDiski Times: “I’m warning Pirates. We have a lot of respect for them, and we, as Magesi FC, would like to congratulate them on their recent victory as MTN8 Champions.

“Dikwena Tša Meetse is taking this game seriously, and we are in a position to make history. It’s about everything that we have worked for; our players have an opportunity to grow as professionals, and Magesi FC will be taking the brand to another level.

“I want to promise The Chief of Moletjie, his Majesty Kgoshi Kgabo Moloto III (K3), and our supporters that we will give everything that we have on the day.

“To our esteemed Chairman and his family, we want to make you proud. As for Pirates, they have a reputation to protect, but we are ready.”
