Magesi FC: Clinton Larsen makes a shock decision

In a surprising move, Clinton Larsen has resigned as Magesi coach despite recent successes.

He led the team to promotion last season and secured the Carling Knockout trophy with a 2-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns last month. However, Magesi’s league form has been poor, with only six points from nine matches and a current position at the bottom of the table.

Larsen’s resignation follows a 3-0 defeat to the All-Stars on Saturday, their fourth consecutive loss across all competitions. He confirmed his departure to SABC Sport, stating, “This is my last game as Magesi coach.

“I am bidding farewell to the club after two years, helping the team get promoted as well as winning a trophy.

“Those are two moments I am very proud of. I wish the club all the best moving forward. I thank the chairman for giving me the opportunity to lead this club.”

The All-Stars’ goals came from Kaizer Chiefs’ Naledi Hlongwane (two) and Samkelo Zwane within the first 30 minutes.

Magesi’s Carling Knockout victory appears to have been a turning point, as their subsequent winless streak has contributed to their league struggles. Larsen has been linked with the vacant managerial positions at KwaZulu-Natal clubs Richards Bay and Golden Arrows.
