Ligue 1 Calling Again: Mamelodi Sundowns Brace for Potential Bids for Star Midfielder Teboho Mokoena

Mamelodi Sundowns face a growing challenge in retaining their midfield maestro, Teboho Mokoena, as a club from the French Ligue 1 has reportedly made an approach for the influential player.

The 28-year-old’s commanding performances for the Brazilians, coupled with his consistently impressive displays for Bafana Bafana – including a standout contribution to their AFCON bronze medal achievement last year – have made him a target for clubs in both North Africa and Europe.

While Mokoena recently reaffirmed his commitment to Sundowns by signing a lucrative five-year contract extension with an option for a further season, the persistent European interest, particularly this latest enquiry from France, suggests a potential transfer could materialize if the right offer is made.

A source within the club told Soccer Laduma, “It will be hard to keep Tebza for a long time. There is interest in him almost every week or month and it’s becoming overwhelming for the club now. The latest is from France. I can’t say exactly which club it is at the moment but the enquiry has been there, from France.”.

According to the article, a second source further explained the club’s position: “At the moment we can say he is not for sale unless the money is good. In August last year he signed a new five-year contract with a one-year option which means they value him so much and they would want to keep him longer. If they are to sell him it won’t be cheap but because the interest is from Europe, and France in particular, it could then happen as long as the money is good,”.
