Sekhukhune United boss Lehlohonolo Seema has expressed his support for Shaun Mogaila following the winger’s return to the playing field after a personal ordeal.
Sekhukhune United boss Lehlohonolo Seema has expressed his support for Mogaila after he was involved in a fatal car accident in October 2024, which tragically resulted in the death of a nine-year-old girl in Tembisa. Since then, he had not featured in any of Babina Noko’s matches as the club granted him time to deal with the situation.
The 29-year-old winger made his long-awaited return in Sekhukhune’s 4-2 victory over AmaZulu FC in a Betway Premiership clash at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium last Wednesday. His performance pleased his coach, who emphasised the club’s commitment to supporting him.
“He is a player registered with us, and of course, he had an unfortunate incident. The team has given him support and time to deal with it,” Seema said after the Usuthu match.
“Now he is back, and we are happy with his first game after a long time. His contribution was good, and we know his quality. The only thing we are doing is putting that behind us and continuing to support him so he can focus on working for the team.”
Seema further acknowledged that Mogaila’s situation could happen to anyone but believes football can help him move forward.
“The team has been supporting him, and you can see that in the way he is playing. It was an unfortunate event, but he needed support and time, which he was given,” he added.
“Now, it’s time for him to focus on football and clear his mind with something he loves doing. I’m happy with his performance after such a long time.”
Mogaila remains out on bail and has already made two court appearances related to the case. His next hearing is set for 19 May 2025.
