Khune: We have to turn it around

Itumeleng Khune has admitted that Kaizer Chiefs players will have to dig deep to end their winless run against Orlando Pirates ahead of the Soweto derby.

Amakhosi are winless against their rivals since beating them 2-0 in December 2014, when Siphiwe Tshabalala and Siphelele Mthembu scored the two goals.

The Premiership big guns will renew their rivalry at a sold-out FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

We have to turn it around and go for the victory,” the Amakhosi skipper told a press conference on Wednesday.

“We believe in ourselves and our supporters, who will come and rally behind the team. All we have to do is to get them the results and make them happy.

“Already when I was in the Bafana camp, people were already talking about the derby.

“It’s a bit unfair to us players because we have other games to focus on, but it’s a norm in South Africa – we have to understand that. That everyone, when the fixture comes out – can’t wait for the match. All we have to do as players is to deliver on the day.”
