Kaizer Chiefs v Chippa United: Kick-off time, betting odds, form guide to watch & more!

On paper, Kaizer Chiefs face one of their toughest challenges of the season as they square off against Chippa United in their Nedbank Cup Last 16 tie at FNB Stadium.

The Glamour Boys have been plagued by inconsistency throughout the 2024/25 season but will turn their attention to the Nedbank Cup tonight.

Decade Long Drought

With the Nedbank Cup now being their only realistic chance at silverware, the pressure is on for Chiefs to make a deep run and end a frustrating ten-year drought without a trophy. That being said, the Amakhosi faithful will have a positive outlook ahead of this one after the Sowetans 1 nil away win against Stellenbosch FC.

During that match, the contributions of new signings Thabo Cele, Glody Lilepo, and Tashreeq Morris were crucial, with all three playing pivotal roles in securing the three points. The trio, brought in during the January transfer window, have already started to show their quality, and Chiefs will look to continue their upward trajectory with them in the starting lineup.

Despite their inconsistencies throughout the season, Chiefs showed glimpses of their potential in the first round of the Nedbank Cup, where they dispatched Free Agents FC 4-0 with ease. The win was a sign that the team could still deliver when it matters most, and with Lilepo, Cele, and Morris all playing vital roles in the squad, the Amakhosi will be hoping this new-look lineup can carry them forward in their quest for silverware.

Chippa United, however, will not make things easy. The Chilli Boys head into this match with a score to settle after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Chiefs in the league on December 29th. Their form has dipped since the departure of key player Kwanele Kopo, leaving them looking for a spark. In response, Chippa recently reappointed Morgan Mammila to strengthen their technical team, and his return could provide the catalyst the team needs to challenge Chiefs.

To win (90 min)

Kaizer Chiefs 5/10 | Draw 26/10 | Chippa United 58/10

With both teams hungry for success, this clash promises to be a tense and closely contested encounter. For Chiefs, it’s about maintaining momentum and continuing to improve with their new additions, while Chippa will be eager to exact revenge and prove they can compete with one of South Africa’s most storied clubs.

The stakes are high as Chiefs aim to end their decade-long trophy drought which is why I am tipping Amakhosi on the win and over 2.5 goals at 31/20.
