Despite his off-the-field issues, midfielder Sipho Mbule could be a good signing for Kaizer Chiefs, according to the club’s former player Frank Makua.
The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United star has been linked with a move to Naturena following his departure from Sundowns. His agent, Mike Makaab, recently revealed that Mbule has been offered to the Soweto giants.
Mbule is known for his disciplinary problems at Sundowns – issues that resurfaced during his loan spell at Sekhukhune United last season. This has raised concerns about whether he could turn things around at the Glamour Boys.
Makua believes that a change in mindset is all Mbule needs to reignite his career and that his playing style would complement Chiefs well.
“I think he has to change his attitude. I mean, he’s a good player – he just needs to move away from the off-the-field things,” Makua told Sowetan.
“He can be a good player for Chiefs, but it’s all up to him. He has to be disciplined, know when to drink and when not to. He just needs to take things seriously. His style of play suits the team as well.
“I think it would be a wise move to take him. But perhaps the club is still trying to decide… they don’t want players who will give them a headache.”
Mbule, who is 27 years old, is currently a free agent and is eligible to sign with any club interested in his services.
