Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Former Amakhosi Transfer Target Finds New Home in Iran

Dženan Zajmović, the former TS Galaxy striker who was heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, has signed with Iranian Pro League club Zob Ahan.

The 30-year-old striker’s move comes after a season where he impressed with the Rockets, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists in 28 appearances.

Zajmović’s name had been frequently mentioned as a potential solution to Chiefs’ long-standing attacking problems, especially as coach Nasreddine Nabi searched for a reliable forward. Despite the strong rumors and what was described as a “come-get-me plea” from the player, a move to Amakhosi never materialized.

The Bosnian-Belgian striker, who left TS Galaxy on July 31, recently spoke to SoccerBeat about his surprise at the lack of interest from a club of Chiefs’ stature. “I had a good season, a solid season,” he said. “I don’t know what to say. It’s strange. I don’t know why.”

When asked if his camp had reached out to Kaizer Chiefs, Zajmović revealed a potential reason for the transfer falling through: he does not have an official agent. “Maybe, that’s also a problem,” he explained. Having had “a lot of bad experiences with agents in the past,” Zajmović manages his own affairs, which may have hindered his chances of attracting an offer from a top-tier club like Chiefs.

Ultimately, Chiefs opted to sign Flavio Silva instead, and Zajmović moved on, reportedly after being unhappy with the offers he received from other PSL outfits.

He has now found a new home in Iran, leaving the Kaizer Chiefs faithful to wonder what might have been. Amakhosi will be looking to continue their winning streak when they face Richards Bay in a Betway Premiership match at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
