Former Kaizer Chiefs fan favourite, Knowledge Musona, finds himself at a significant career crossroads once again, with reports confirming his departure from Saudi Pro League side Al–Okhdood.

End of a Chapter in Saudi Arabia
Musona joined Al-Okhdood for the 2023/24 season, having previously played for Al Riyadh. During his stint, he made 30 appearances, contributing five goals and three assists.
Despite his efforts, the club ultimately decided not to activate the one-year extension option in his contract. Al-Okhdood released Musona alongside six other players, including Nigerian winger Saviour Godwin and Guinea’s Ousmane Barry, as reported by FarPost. This decision marks the end of his latest chapter in the Middle East.
Eyes on a New Challenge and International Comeback
Despite this recent setback, Musona’s desire to continue playing at a competitive level remains strong.
With a wealth of experience gained from stints in Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East, the former Chiefs star is actively seeking a fresh challenge – potentially the final one in his illustrious career. His immediate focus will also be on helping Zimbabwe in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
In a surprising turn of events, Musona, who had initially retired from international football in 2022, made a highly anticipated return earlier this year.
He featured prominently in Zimbabwe’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Benin, immediately demonstrating his invaluable leadership and influence. The national team coach lauded his decision to return, recognizing it as a vital step in rebuilding the Warriors.
A Lasting Legacy in South African Football
While his club future hangs in the balance, Musona’s legacy, particularly in South African football, is firmly cemented. During his impactful tenure with Amakhosi, he became a prolific goalscorer, bagging over 40 goals and providing 19 assists.
His performances earned him numerous individual accolades, including the Golden Boot, solidifying his status as one of the Premier Soccer League’s most feared attackers during his time.
