Chiefs have now kept back to back clean sheets in the South African topflight – a major step up from last season when they conceded 32 goals in 28 league matches.
With Amakhosi now looking for their third consecutive victory, this newfound defensive solidity could make all the difference.
What was said?
Speaking at a press conference before the upcoming match against Richards Bay, Cele emphasized the importance of squad depth. “I think in every position, it’s important to have competition and it makes us better,” he said. “If you look at our games, we have lots of games, so we need that squad depth in every position.”
The 28-year-old midfielder also highlighted that Chiefs are competing on multiple fronts this season, both domestically and continentally. “Playing so many competitions, we want to compete in everything and everywhere and win games, so it’s important for the squad to have that depth.”
Nabi Still in Charge
Despite head coach Nasreddine Nabi’s prolonged absence due to a family emergency in Tunisia, the team remains in good hands. Assistant coach Cedric Kaze has assured fans that Nabi is still actively involved, maintaining constant communication with the technical staff.
Kaze and fellow assistant Ben Youssef have been leading the training sessions, but it is Nabi who continues to set the team’s technical direction.
