Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping for a repeat of their first-round encounter when they face Richards Bay at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.
Goals from Wandile Dube and Ashley Du Preez secured a 2-1 win for Amakhosi at the Peter Mokaba Stadium back in November in a game that also saw Reeve Frosler dismissed as the Natal Rich Boyz netted a late consolation goal.
While Chiefs come into this tie in eighth place on the Betway Premiership standings, with 29 points from 21 games, Richards Bay are down in 12th with 21 points – just two points from the relegation places.
Nasreddine Nabi’s side most recently drew 0-0 with Cape Town City on Wednesday as Bay lost 1-0 to Magesi.
After his side’s recent draw, Nabi told SuperSport: “With all due respect to Cape Town City, we should have won the game 3-0 or 4-0. But we needed to score, and we didn’t.
“It’s my responsibility. I don’t want to attack my players. I need to protect them and help them improve.”
Richards Bay co-coach Papi Zothwane added: “One thing at the back of our minds is to move from where we are because the gap is two or three points.
“Our target is focusing up there and that has helped us, as we want to finish higher. So, we have to work extremely hard and not think about who is behind us.”
