Kaizer Chiefs continue winless run following draw with Siwelele

Kaizer Chiefs were held to a goalless draw by Siwelele FC in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday, extending their winless streak.

Kaizer Chiefs played to a 0-0 draw against Siwelele FC at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening to extend their winless streak to four matches in the league.

The visitors started brightly, forcing Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen to make a save following a corner in the 3rd minute of the game.

Amakhosi seemed to take control of proceedings thereafter with Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi’s shots blocked in the tenth minute, but survived a scare as Petersen made a great save to deny Siwelele the opener.

Vilakazi and Reeve Frosler came close to opening the score but failed to hit the target as the sides went into halftime goalless.

Chiefs began the second half brightly, dominating possession, but could not breach the visitors’ defence despite Frosler and substitute Glody Lilepo coming closest to breaking the deadlock.

The result sees the Soweto Giants climb one spot into fourth position on the league table while Siwelele FC remain in 15th.

Amakhosi will now shift their focus to their CAF Confederations Cup second leg match against AS Simba on Sunday at Dobsonville Stadium.
