Kaizer Chiefs: Bafana Bafana international prepared to bide his time at Amakhosi

Given Msimango is fully supportive of Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi despite seeing his game time limited in the Betway Premiership this season.

The 27-year-old defender played 30 times in all competitions for Amakhosi under Molefi Ntseki and Cavin Johnson last season but has featured in just four games this campaign.

He was left out of the squad for Chiefs’ last three matches, with new signings Inacio Miguel and Rushwin Dortley the preferred centre-back pairing, but remains fully committed to the cause as the club look to improve on a difficult start to the current season.

Reflecting on his experiences under the Tunisian head coach, Msimango explained he is focused on working hard and fighting for his place in the starting eleven.

He said on FARPost: “Yeah, personally, yeah, last season was, for me personally, was a good season. I played almost every game.

“And of course, now this season came. A new coach. There are probably new players, reinforced defence, if I may say.

“So, yeah, just like every other player, I have to wait for my opportunity to play. When I get it, I need to use it.

“But for the time being, the guys that are playing, I need to support them. I need to show them the respect that they’ve shown me when I was playing. And that’s it for me to stay professional at all times.”

Kaizer Chiefs next face Cape Town City in the Betway Premiership on Sunday 5 January.
