Kaitano Tembo: Defenders will not want to meet Macuphu and Grobler.

Supersport United striker Mxolisi Macuphu
Supersport United coach Kaitano Tembo has revealed the importance of loaned forward Mxolisi Macuphu and how the team has changed their style of play switching from a lone striker to having two forwards.

Matsatsantsa are in red hot form, winning four of their last five league matches, picking up 12 points and scoring eight goals in the process.

New striker, Macuphu, who joined Supersport on loan from Bidvest Wits during the January window has been the main catalyst, netting three goals in four matches.

Head coach Tembo has applauded the immediate impact Macuphu has made since joining the team and how they have changed from playing one striker to starting with two up front. He also hinted that the club would love to have him on a permanent basis but it all depends on what his parent club want.

“We have to respect that he is a [Bidvest] Wits player, we don’t want to be ahead of ourselves. They gave us a player and we really appreciate that because he has made a lot of difference in our team”, said Tembo.

He is ours till the end of the season and after that he goes back to Wits but we will see. We will talk, but it all depends on Wits and what they want to do with him and we will take it from there’’. He added.

When asked about how he feels about Macuphu’s performance since joining Matsantsanta, Tembo said, he and Bradley Grobler are strikers most defenders will fear.

“His combination with Bradley [Grobler] has made a huge difference. I think those are the two players most defenders will not want to meet because, they are strong and complement each other very well”, Tembo answered.

Superport United are currently fifth on the log standings with 35 points, five points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a game in hand. Matsatsantsa will host relegation-threatened Free State Stars in their next encounter on Sunday 10 March and kick-off is at 15:30.
