Jose Riveiro remains optimistic about a positive outcome regarding Monnapule Saleng’s situation at Orlando Pirates.
Saleng has reportedly been in a standoff with the Buccaneers’ management, allegedly regarding his salary, as well as a failed move to Egyptian club Al Ahly.
This has led to the skilful winger missing training, eventually having to train with the club’s reserves.
Riveiro, who didn’t want to dwell on the issue too much, hopes for the best outcome between the club and Saleng.
“I don’t think about players when we win or when we don’t win. I think no one would like to be in this situation when we started the season, but it is what it is,” Riveiro was quoted as saying by IOL.
“It’s something that, as you know, is not my role to speak much about. I just wish the best for both sides in this case, and whatever I say is going to be a big headline, right?”
Saleng has not featured for the Buccaneers this year, but he was fortunate to get some game time after being called up to the Bafana Bafana squad that played Egypt in the first leg of the CHAN qualifiers, before being dropped for the second leg.
It remains to be seen whether Saleng will stay at Pirates, or if the Buccaneers will let him go, with several teams reportedly monitoring the situation.
