Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has expressed concern about the number of injuries at the club, especially as they chase multiple trophies.
This comes after Pirates secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Ke Yona Cup with a 3-1 victory over Motsepe Championship side Baroka FC last weekend.
Pirates have been without key players, including defender Olisa Ndah, and more recently, Riveiro saw another defender, Thabiso Sesane, sidelined due to a ruptured tendon injury.
“It’s not just about looking at the player who is getting injured. It’s a tough process for them, a challenging period that may involve a long absence from playing football and facing different difficulties. For me, that’s the main concern,” said Riveiro after the Baroka game.
“We try to provide them with the right platform to come back as soon as possible while keeping them mentally strong.
“For us, the technical staff, the next challenge is to replace that player with guarantees. Every player is different, and you cannot expect the same results from different players.”
The Buccaneers’ next match is against Golden Arrows in a league tie away from home on Wednesday.
