Jose Ali Meza could be set for Sundowns exit

Misfiring Venezuelan forward Jose Ali Meza

Mamelodi Sundowns appear to be ready to offload misfiring Venezuelan forward Jose Ali Meza after he failed to establish himself last season at Chloorkop.

Meza wasn’t able to get regular first team football as he made just 13 appearances while scoring one goal and recording a single assist.

Unlike his South American counterpart, Gaston Sirino, the 28-year-old was not favoured by coach Pitso Mosimane and it is likely he has been deemed surplus to requirements with the 2016 African champions.

The arrival of Uruguayan forward Mauricio Affonso seems to indicate strongly that Meza’s time at Sundowns will be approaching the end in the very near future.

Affonso is a 27-year-old with a decent scoring record while he played for Alianza Lima in the Peruvian First Division. He signed a five-year deal with the Brazilians.

Another unveiling set to be officially confirmed by the club imminently is the capture of Nyiko Mobbie from Free State Stars.

The defender is to join after leaving relegated Ea Lla Koto who went down on the last day of 2018/19.
