Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung affirms that head coach Nasreddine Nabi has the club’s full support.
The former Young Africans and AS FAR has come under criticism in recent weeks for his team’s poor results, including a 4-1 defeat to a struggling SuperSport United and more recent 2-0 loss to Richards Bay.
The club was reported to have held a crisis meeting with Nabi this week, with discussions centering around a top-eight finish to their season and strong end to their Nedbank Cup campign,.
Amakhosi are currently in eighth place on the league standings and in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup where they will either face Mamelodi Sundowns or Sekhukhune United.
Next up though, after the international break, is a league clash with Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on March 30.
Motaung told FARPost: “I think all I can say is we have a technical team, we have a coach, they’re doing the work, and they have the support to do the work.
“We obviously know that this is a long game. We didn’t get into this thinking we’d have quick results. But certainly, I think the lessons are there. The analysis is there. The football team is working well with the coaches to ensure that things that must be addressed are addressed.”
Motaung added: “And my encouragement to the supporters is to support the team and ensure we make it to the finish line for the season. But there is a lot of learning and a need for more consistency. And there’s work behind the scenes to ensure that is done.”
