Italian Serie A Preview

Gameweek 14 of the Italian Serie A approaches with the log starting to take shape. Inter Milan returned to the top of the log with a walk in the park 4-0 victory over Frosinone. Fiorentina dropped from first to third after their 2-2 home draw against Empoli, whilst champions Juventus claimed a third consecutive win. The bottom three remains the same as it did the week prior, with newcomers Frosinone, Carpi and Hellas Verona who remain winless. It’s tight at the summit of the table, as a win this week for fourth-placed Roma would see them take the lead, depending on the results of the other title challengers. Let’s see where we can find winners as well as a bit of value this week.

Saturday 28 November

13/20 Torino | Draw 27/10 | Bologna 9/2 (19:00)

Torino returned to winning ways last weekend with a hard-fought 1-0 victory away to Atalanta – breaking a six match winless run, including four defeats. They take on Bologna who have proved tough to beat in recent weeks, with the relegation-threatened club earning a 2-2 draw on home soil against Roma last time out, whilst winning two on the bounce prior to that stalemate. However, Torino have lost just once on their ground this season and are tipped to capitalize on home advantage as Bologna have lost four of their six travels.

6/10 AC Milan | 3/1 | Sampdoria 9/2 (21:45)

AC Milan have failed to score a goal in their last two matches after going down 1-0 at Juventus last Saturday. However, they return to the San Siro where they have been excellent, winning four of their six matches. Sampdoria have lost consecutive games after their 1-0 defeat away to Udinese. They are winless on the road, scoring just four goals and conceding 10 times. The team is still coming together under the new manager. It will take some time, but they do have the quality to make a comeback up the table. The teams cancelled each other out in both meetings last term, scoring six goals between them. Both Teams To Score can be found at 9/10.

Sunday 29 November

11/10 Chievo | 22/10 | Udinese 27/10 (16:00)

Chievo ended a winless run of seven matches last time out with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at bottom-dwellers Carpi. It’s Udinese up next, and they will have a bit of confidence after their 1-0 home win over Sampdoria. It was a good defensive display, but they will need to be better in attack as they have scored just 11 goals in 13 matches. Chievo, however, have been inconsistent on their turf. The sides are tipped to share the spoils.

15/10 Frosinone | 9/4 | Hellas Verona 18/10 (16:00)

Newly-promoted Frosinone have managed just 11 points from 13 matches as they lie 18th on the log. They fell to a humiliating 4-0 defeat away to league-leaders Inter Milan last time out, but return to home soil where they have been fairly decent, including three wins from six games. Hellas Verona remain winless after 13 matches, and are starting to look like a Sunday league team. They have lost four of their last five games, scoring just once and conceding 10 times. Both teams have struggled to score goals, with Frosinone getting on the scoresheet just 11 times, and Verona only eight. This fixture goes hand in hand with the Under 2.5 Goals market – get on it at 8/10.

6/10 Genoa | 29/10 | Carpi 5/1(16:00)

Genoa are coming off a 2-1 win at home against Sassuolo, stretching their unbeaten run to four matches. They have been excellent on their turf with four victories from six games. Bottom-of-the-log Carpi are without a win on the road, including five defeats from six matches, scoring a measly six goals and conceding triple that amount (18). Carpi have lost six of their last eight matches and that doesn’t look like improving here. The home win is tipped.

9/20 Roma | 34/10 | Atalanta 11/20 (16:00)

Roma were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw at Bologna last time out, but will be confident of returning to winning ways when they host Atalanta. Roma are unbeaten at home with five wins from six games, scoring 17 goals and conceding just six times. Atalanta are scoreless in their last three matches after a 1-0 defeat in front of their own fans against Torino. They have travelled poorly, with just one victory from seven matches, scoring three times and conceding 11.Roma are tipped confidently, but if you looking for a better price, the Halftime-Fulltime win on the home team will get you 23/20.

21/10 Empoli | 23/10 | Lazio 13/10 (17:00)

Empoli are coming off a well-deserved 2-2 draw at Fiorentina. Despite their inconsistent form, Empoli have managed to score in each of their last six matches. Lazio are winless in their last four matches, including three defeats. Their away form has been dismal with five losses from six games, scoring four goals and conceding 16 times. Everything looks to go Empoli’s way for this encounter, making the home win a top value bet at 21/10.

5/1 Palermo | 28/10 | Juventus 6/10 (21:45)

Palermo impressed last time out, holding Lazio to a 1-1 draw away from home. They face another huge test this weekend in the form of the defending champions Juventus. Juve for the first time this season earned a third consecutive victory last weekend, with a 1-0 home win against AC Milan. Palermo are just four points off the drop, so a defeat here is something they must avoid. Paulo Dybala has been a constant threat for the Old Lady this season, notching up five goals, including two on the bounce, and he will be looking to add to that tally. Juventus have won the last six meetings against Palermo, scoring 10 goals without conceding. Go with the away win.

Monday 30 November

26/10 Sassuolo | 5/2 | Fiorentina 21/20 (20:00)

Sassuolo fell to a 2-1 defeat at Genoa last time out, but return to their fortress where they remain unbeaten with four wins and two draws from six matches. Fiorentina dropped from top spot into third after they were held to a 2-2 draw at home last time out. They will look to get back to glory days with a win here, and their four victories from six travels will give them the confidence to do so. However, a Europa League meeting at Swiss outfit Basel on Thursday night could take a lot out of Viola, making Sassuolo value for money at 26/10.

7/10 Napoli | 28/10 | Inter Milan 4/1 (22:00)

The Serie A rounds-off with a mammoth clash at the top of the log, as Napoli host Inter Milan. Second-placed Napoli are unbeaten since their opening day 2-1 defeat at Sassuolo. They have won seven of their last eight matches and are unbeaten on their ground with five victories from six games. Inter Milan are on a run of four wins on the trot, scoring seven goals and conceding none. They are unbeaten on their travels with four wins and two draws from six games. Inter have the best defensive record in the league, conceding just seven times. Napoli have had the upper hand in recent times, losing just once in the last 12 meetings against Inter, winning six times. However, Inter will be the fresher team come Sunday as Napoli have a Europa League clash at Club Brugge to deal with on Thursday evening. The draw looks a likely result.
