Italian Serie A: Gameweek 5 Preview

Juventus striker Alvaro Morata marked his return with a goal last weekend

Juventus might have put me out of my featured treble last week, but it was still a decent round on the betting front. Gameweek fives serves up a couple of enticing fixtures and there might just be an opportunity to capitalize for all the Serie A punters. Let’s get to it.

Friday 23 October

Sassuolo 11/20

Draw 7/2

Torino 17/4

(20:45)

Following Sassuolo’s opening day 1-1 draw against Cagliari, they have bounced back strong with three wins on the spin. Torino, on the other hand, are bottom of the log with three losses from three matches, scoring four goals and conceding eight times. The home win looks very inviting but Torino have always been a strong team and I’m expecting them to prove that form is temporary and class is permanent. I won’t go as far as backing them to win this contest but Both Teams to Score – Yes – looks a tempting option at 11/20.

Saturday 24 October

Atalanta 4/10

Draw 17/4

Sampdoria 52/10

(15:00)

Atalanta were hammered 4-1 at Napoli last time out but prior to that, they had won three in a row, scoring 13 goals. Sampdoria have been impressive of late with back-to-back victories despite their slow start to the season. The hosts will be licking their wounds and will be desperate to recover from their defeat last time out. La Samp are looking to build on their momentum gained so far. There have been 20 goals scored in the last 10 meetings between these sides – that’s an average of two goals per game. Get on the Totals – Under 2.5 – goals at 21/10.

Genoa 11/2

Draw 34/10

Inter Milan 9/20

(18:00)

Genoa have made an inconsistent start to the season and are without a win or goal in their last two matches. Inter Milan would have been disappointed to suffer a 2-1 defeat to city rivals AC Milan last weekend. Nonetheless, they are playing some good football and I’m backing them to get back to winning ways. In fact, I’m tipping Inter on the Half-time/Full-time win at 5/4.

Lazio 8/10

Draw 29/10

Bologna 29/10

(20:45)

Lazio started the 2020/21 Serie A campaign with a 2-0 victory at Cagliari but remain winless in three games since, including two defeats. Bologna have been terrible with three losses from their last four matches with two losses on the bounce. The Eagles are unbeaten against Bologna in the last 10 meetings. And while it might not be a walk in the park, I’m backing Lazio to utilize home advantage and grind out a win.

Sunday 25 October

Cagliari 19/20

Draw 26/10

Crotone 11/4

(13:30)

After a winless run of three matches with two defeats, Cagliari came good last time out with a hard earned 3-2 win away to Torino. Crotone, despite remaining winless, their 1-1 draw at home against Juventus last weekend was impressive to say the least. I’m sure both sides will play with a little more confidence after last weekend’s results. Get on the Both Teams to Score – Yes – market at 8/10.

Parma 11/10

Draw 24/10

Spezia 49/20

(16:00)

Parma have been dismal with three losses from their four matches, scoring four goals and conceding nine times. Spezia have not been much better as they lie just one point above Parma on the standings. I’m expecting a dull but cagey affair on Sunday with a lack of goals. The Totals – Under 2.5 – goals market is tipped at 8/10.

Benevento 13/2

Draw 9/2

Napoli 7/20

(16:00)

Benevento have played some brave football but it has come at a cost of two defeats. Napoli seem to be scoring for fun at the moment. They have won all three of their matches – bar their game against Juventus which they did not show up for and resulted in a 3-0 defeat. Technically speaking, Napoli have scored 12 goals and conceded just one. Back the Away Team to Score in Both Halves – Yes – at 8/10.

Fiorentina 7/10

Draw 28/10

Udinese 36/10

(19:00)

Fiorentina are off the back of a hard-fought 2-2 draw away to Spezia and will be looking to build on that. Udinese returned to winning ways last time out following a miserable run of three straight defeats. The last five meetings have produced just six goals between these sides. That’s an average of 0.83 per game. The Totals – Under 2.5 – goals is a top bet here at 19/20.

Juventus 9/20

Draw 34/10

Hellas Verona 57/10

(21:45)

Juventus have pretty decent odds just because Cristiano Ronaldo remains out due to COVID-19. While CR7 is a player that can make all the difference in the world, the Old Lady are still a quality side that are reigning Serie A champions for the last nine seasons. Hellas Verona have not found the back of the net in their last two matches. Take Juve on the (-1) Handicap at 12/10.

Monday 26 October

AC Milan 13/10

Draw 26/10

Roma 19/10

(21:45)

AC Milan and Roma will square off on Monday evening in what promises to be a cracking contest. Milan might be unbeaten at the summit but Roma have found some good form with two wins on the spin, scoring six goals and conceding just once. This one is expected to go down to the wire. The draw is on the cards.

TREBLE @ 67/10

Lazio Win 8/10

Fiorentina vs Udinese Under 2.5 Goals 19/20

Juventus (-1) Handicap Win 12/10
