Gila joins Lazio from Real Madrid

Spanish centre-back Mario Gila has joined Lazio for a fee of €6m on a five-year contract from Real Madrid.

Real have some nice depth in the centre-back position with Germany international Antonio Rudiger’s signing from Chelsea further bolstering their defensive stocks which already includes Eder Militao, David Alaba, Nacho Hernandez and Jesus Vallejo.
Gila, 21, grew up with the club, made 72 appearances for Real Madrid Castilla and just the two appearances for the senior team – making his debut for Los Blancos in a 4-0 win over Espanyol on April 30.
Lazio, meanwhile, have been busy in the transfer market – signing Luís Maximiano (Granada), Marcos Antonio (Shakhtar Donetsk), Mattia Zacagni and Nicolo Casale (both Hellas Verona) and now Gila.
Gila will be fighting it out with Alessio Romagnoli, Casale, Francesco Acerbi, Patric and Stefan Radu for a starting berth in the heart of defence.
