German Bundesliga: Gameweek 3 Preview

German Bundesliga: Gameweek 3 Preview

The early stages of a new season always seem unpredictable but eventually patterns and shape starts to form, so stick with me and I’m confident I will find winning form. Now that the International break is done and dusted, we can focus club football and all the amazing thrills and spills that come with it. Let’s get to round three of the Bundesliga.

Friday 14 September

Borussia Dortmund 9/20

Draw  15/4

Eintracht Frankfurt 11/2

(20:30)

Borussia Dortmund, like last season, lack consistency. Following a tremendous 4-1 victory over Leipzig, the Black and Yellow Army yielded to Hannover with a dour goalless draw before the international break. However, Eintracht Frankfurt failed to impress as well last time out, suffering a 2-1 home defeat against Werder Bremen. Back BVB to come out firing on all cylinders and I’m tipping them on the (-1) Handicap at 21/20.

Saturday 15 September

Mainz 33/20

Draw  21/10

Augsburg 18/10

(15:30)

There is very little to choose between Mainz and Augsburg at this stage of the season with just goal difference separating them. Both sides began the campaign with a victory before playing to 1-1 stalemates last time out. Expect a watertight contest on Saturday afternoon with a lack of goals from either side. The Totals – Under 2.5 Goals – market should be backed at 13/20.

Bayern Munich 2/9

Draw 57/10

Bayer Leverkusen 10/1

(15:30)

Bayern Munich, lead at the summit – as expected – with two wins on the bounce, scoring six goals and conceding just once. Their opponents, Bayer Leverkusen, are on the opposite end of the form table with two losses on the spin. The Bavarian giants are playing some attractive football at the moment and should continue that form here. The home team are tipped on the Half-time/Full-time win at 6/10.

Wolfsburg 21/20

Draw 43/20

Hertha Berlin

(15:30)

Wolfsburg are playing their socks off following last season’s relegation scare. The Wolves are second behind Bayern Munich on goal difference with consecutive victories and will be looking to build on that form. However, Hertha Berlin have been just as impressive with two straight wins and boast the best defensive record at the moment as they are yet to concede a goal. With both sides likely to be playing not to lose, get on the Under 2.5 Goals market at 6/10.

Leipzig 5/10

Draw 34/10

Hannover 47/10

(15:30)

Leipzig are yet to claim their first win of the new season and neither have Hannover following back-to-back draws. At the moment, I’m not quite sure what to make of the Red Bulls but following the international break, I’m expecting them to get their tactics right. Leipzig completed the double over Hannover last season and look likely to make it three in a row. Back the hosts to come good and get their first win of the season.

Dusseldorf 29/10

Draw 28/10

Hoffenheim 17/20

(15:30)

New boys on the block, Dusseldorf, earned their first point last time out with a well-deserved 1-1 draw away to title-contenders Leipzig. Following a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the opening round, Hoffenheim bounced back to winning ways with a 3-1 home win over Freiburg. I really enjoyed watching Dusseldorf in pre-season and I think they have a lot to offer. However, Hoffenheim have that quality to turn this game on its head. The sides are tipped to cancel each other out.

Monchengladbach 5/4

Draw 24/10

Schalke 21/10

(18:30)

Monchengladbach have made a decent start to the new season and will be desperate to maintain that form after a lacklustre campaign last term. Schalke, on the other hand, finished runners-up to Bayern Munich but have struggled with back-to-back defeats. The Borussians are unbeaten in their last five matches at home against Schalke and offer good value to come out on top. The home win is the way to go.

Sunday 16 September

Werder Bremen 13/20

Draw 3/1

Nuremburg 4/1

(15:30)

Werder Bremen got off the mark with their first win of the campaign last time out, seeing off Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 away from home. Nuremburg have been stubborn defensively but they lack imagination and creativity going forward. This one is likely to be another close encounter but I’m backing the River Islanders to outshine the newcomers. Back Werder Bremen to make home advantage count.

Freiburg 17/10

Draw 21/10

Stuttgart 7/4

(15:30)

Freiburg have made a terrible start to the 2018/19 season with two losses on the bounce, scoring once and conceding five goals. Stuttgart are placed at the foot of the table with back-to-back losses and will be desperate to come away with a positive result. Both teams are shipping way too many goals but at the same time battling to score them. A low-scoring affair is on the cards and the Under 2.5 Goals market should come into play once more at 13/20.

TREBLE @ 66/10

Dortmund (-1) Handicap 21/20

Mainz vs Augsburg Under 2.5 Goals 13/20

Monchengladbach Win 5/4
