Gaston Sirino happy to accept responsibility of playing for Kaizer Chiefs

Gaston Sirino says he’s happy to accept the responsibility of playing for Kaizer Chiefs.

The 33-year-old Uruguayan hitman joined Amakhosi after five and a half years with Mamelodi Sundowns where he won seven league titles, one MTN8, a Nedbank Cup, Carling Knockout Cup and the inaugural African Football League.

Since signing for Chiefs, Sirino has scored once and provided two assists in his three games so far for the club.

He netted his side’s first goal and also set up Yusuf Maart for the second goal in the 4-0 demolition of SuperSport in the last 16 of the Carling Knockout Cup on Saturday, to scoop the Man of the Match Award.

Sirino told SuperSport after the match: “It is a big responsibility to play for Chiefs, but I am very happy to be here to help the team.

“I also think the change in mentality is a positive for us, to (look to) win every game. In the last game against Sundowns, we should have scored more goals.

“But that is football, now we must recover for another game against SuperSport.”

Chiefs started their season with two wins before losing 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns.

They next face SuperSport in the Betway Premiership on Saturday 26 October.
