Gabadinho Mhango remains uncertain about why the Kaizer Chiefs transfer didn’t materialize

Gabadinho Mhango laments missed Kaizer Chiefs move

Gabadinho Mhango admits he remains uncertain as to why a proposed move to Kaizer Chiefs fell through in the final stages.

The 32-year-old former Orlando Pirates striker was tipped to join Amakhosi when coming to the end of his AmaZulu contract in 2023.

He ultimately joined Moroka Swallows and this season signed for Marumo Gallants.

A seasoned Malawian international, Mhango made the trip from Durban to Johannesburg to complete his move, but Chiefs ultimately pulled out of the deal.

The player told FARPost: “It wasn’t just talk, but I was about to go to Chiefs, and then things turned around. Up to now, I don’t even know what happened.

“But I remember I was at AmaZulu, and I actually travelled from Durban to Joburg to complete the move. I was happy that I was going to be at Chiefs, but then things happened.

“I was looking forward, but at the end of the day, I was disappointed as it failed to happen. However, I am loving the game and the place where I ended up.”

Mhango has scored three goals and created one in his 14 games for Gallants this season.
