Ernst Middendorp says his job at Cape Town Spurs will be made easier by having players he has coached before.
Current Spurs players Clayton Daniels, Nazeer Allie, Nicholas Lukhubeni and Keagan Buchananhave all worked with Middendorp at his previous clubs.
Having taken over from Shaun Bartlett with the club at the bottom of the DStv Premiership with just one win from their opening 11 matches, the new coach has his work cut out for him.
Next up for Spurs is a league clash with Royal AM and Middendorp will be eyeing a positive performance.
He said on FARPost: “If you have players you have worked with, it’s very crucial.
“The process of getting it done in a way as you would like to see at a training process. So on it’s a little bit easier.
“Because you know you come around as a coach nobody knows you. It’s only what you guys are writing about the coach being whatever. So everybody is a little bit out of control in normal behaviour. So I think it will be easier.
“It makes it easier for all of us to find the right way with information and leadership.”
The head coach added: “We are all aware that we have to come into the right position again. I think it’s definitely a situation where we believe all together. It’s not only my belief, otherwise, I wouldn’t be here. I think it’s a belief that we developed over a number of days with our discussions and presentations of our thinking to each other.”
