Sekhukhune United’s coach Eric Tinkler states that his squad has much to enhance despite defeating title contenders Orlando Pirates 1-0 in the Betway Premiership.

Tresor Tshibwabwa scored the only goal of the game at the Orlando Stadium after 58 minutes, in a tie that also saw Nkosinathi Sibisi dismissed with five minutes of the match remaining.

The result saw Sekhukhune move onto 44 points in third place on the standings; two adrift of Pirates, who are 12 points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, with two games in hand.

Tinkler explained that he expects a more dynamic approach from his talented team.

The Babina Noko boss said on FARPost: “Tonight we gave away a lot of possession, and against a team like Pirates, you can’t give them those opportunities. So, we need to be a lot better on the ball.

“I am a coach who likes to play an attractive game of football. I’m not a coach who likes to play one dimension and then go long. So, we need to be able to change our game, and I think right now, our possession is simply not good enough, our movement is not good enough.

“These are all aspects that need to be worked on. But it’s not the time of the season to be doing that because the games are coming thick and fast now.

“So, I think we just try and keep to the basics and then for next season, I want to try and implement a little more of my game model and system and understanding of how I want the team to play and look more attractive than what we did against Pirates.”

Sekhukhune are next in action away to Magesi at the weekend.
