Eric Tinkler, born on 30 July 1970, is a former South African football player who has transitioned into a successful coach in the Premier Soccer League. He initially took on the role of head coach at Orlando Pirates in December 2013.
After announcing his continuation for the 2015–16 season, Tinkler departed Orlando Pirates and became the inaugural head coach of Cape Town City club on 17 June 2016.
His coaching journey continued as he took on the position of head coach at SuperSport United on 8 June 2017, only to resign in March 2018.
Following a stint with Chippa United, he assumed the managerial role at Maritzburg United in January 2019, departing the club in November 2020. Tinkler made a return to Cape Town City as manager on 24 May 2021, marking a significant point in his coaching career.
