Rennes striker Kermit Erasmus insists he has “no interest” in playing for Bafana Bafana as long as Shakes Mashaba remains coach.
The former Orlando Pirates man has highlighted previous incidents under the tutelage of Mashaba, which resulted in him being omitted from the national team as the main factor.
“To be honest with you, I have no interest in the national team at the moment,” Erasmus told Soccer Laduma.
“Seeing what’s happened in the past with regards to my form at the time, I feel like I don’t have any business there. I’ll only play for the national team when there’s a new coach.”
The saga involving Erasmus and Mashaba has been ongoing, with the 26-year-old blatantly refusing to honour a call-up in 2014.
“As much as many South Africans want to see me wear the Bafana jersey again, and as much as I want to wear it for the love of my country, I just don’t see myself doing that under the current coach. That’s all I’ll say,” Erasmus concluded.
