Chelsea are closing in on a double signing of Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri from Roma for a reported fee of £50 million.

The arrival of Dzeko, 31, is the one that will really excite Chelsea fans as the Bosnian striker is a proven Premier League goalscorer, having had a successful five-year spell at Manchester City in which he scored 72 times in 187 appearances.

Reports say that Dzeko’s agent Irfan Redzepagic met with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia yesterday and that the pair are set to iron out the details of the Bosnian’s contract today with the deal expected to be finalised before the weekend.

Dzeko has enjoyed a strong career in Italy’s top flight since leaving the Citizens in 2015 and has scored nine goals in 20 appearances this season.

Last season, he finished as the Serie A’s top goalscorer after scoring 29 goals for Roma during the campaign.

Dzeko tormented the Chelsea backline when the Giallorossi visited Stamford Bridge in a UEFA Champions League tie in October, netting a brace in a thrilling 3-3 draw.
