A representative of Paulo Dybala’s claims that the player opted to remain with Juventus when a recent offer of 80m euro was received from Barcelona.

The young striker was one of the Bianconeri’s top players in the 2015/16 Serie A season, scoring 19 goals and providing nine assists in a campaign that saw the club win a fifth consecutive Scudetto.

The Argentinian moved to Turin from Palermo for a fee of 40m euro, a figure that Barcelona apperently doubled in a recent offer, says the president of the group that represents the player, Gustavo Mascardi.

“Will he stay at Juventus for a long time? The transfer market can offer many temptations, but Paulo has shown that he has clear ideas,” president of the Mascardi football management group Gustavo Mascardi told Gazzamercato.

“It is true that in recent months Barcelona were interested – I think they made a bid of double what the Bianconeri paid.

“But the player’s first consideration was that it was more important to consolidate his experience at a club which is giving him the opportunity to succeed at the highest level,” he continued.

“When I talk with Paulo and his agent, Pierpaolo Triulzi, I have proof that the lad is really on the right track.

“A year ago Inter and Milan also wanted him, but he was right to choose the club which would give him more safeguards.

“His career at Juventus has just begun.”

The news will be music to the ears of Massimiliano Allegri and Juventus president Andrea Agnelli, who are looking increasingly likely to lose the services of their other young superstar midfielder Paul Pogba, while striker Alvaro Morata has already been bought back by Real Madrid.
