Divine Lunga reveals shocking details about Miguel Cardoso

Divine Lunga admits there hasn’t been much difference at Mamelodi Sundowns since Miguel Cardoso took the reins from Manqoba Mngqithi.

The Portuguese coach joined the club after an indifferent start to the season under the former head coach.

Sundowns were eliminated from the MTN and Nedbank Cups before drawing their two opening CAF Champions League group games.

Cardoso engineered a win in his first game in the Champions League before guiding his side to a 1-0 Betway Premiership win over Stellenbosch.

Next up is a trip to Durban to play AmaZulu and Lunga explained that the biggest change is that Cardoso encourages his players to take risks and not worry about making mistakes.

The 29-year-old Zimbabwean defender told Radio 2000: “There’s not much difference and it’s just about listening to what the coach is saying so that we can do better.

“We try to do our best and in training, we try to keep possession so that we draw in our opponents and benefit from that. I think it’s a good thing for the team and the guys are coping well.

“He (Cardoso) tells us not to be scared of making mistakes. If we make one mistake, we must not let our heads drop, but look up and try again as it will work because we have the talent and there’s nothing to be scared of. If we let our heads go down, our opponents will capitalise on that.

“It’s an easy one because we train together, even if it’s just a short time but with our combinations, there’s nothing new.”
