Dan Malesela returns to Baroka FC

Experienced coach Dan Malesela has rejoined Baroka FC following his departure from Marumo Gallants.

iDiski Times had earlier reported that Baroka’s management has already engaged in talks with Malesela about replacing current head coach Foster Hlongwane before they posted a picture of him training with the team.

Malesela, who previously coached Bakgakga, departed the club during last season’s promotion/relegation play-offs.

The club was reportedly dissatisfied with recent results, particularly after suffering consecutive defeats for the first time since November, a 2-0 loss to Kruger United followed by another 2-0 defeat against Cape Town Spurs.

These losses have caused Baroka to slip to eighth place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, accumulating 29 points from 22 matches.

They now trail league leaders Durban City by 13 points and are seven points behind second-placed Kruger United and third-placed Orbit College, both vying for play-off positions.

With the league campaign reaching a critical stage, it remains to be seen whether the veteran coach can steer the club towards a play-off spot.
