Former SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits and Chippa United winger Daine Klate has decided to hang up his boots with immediate effect.
Klate’s career started in 2004 with SuperSport where he won the SAA Supa 8 in 2004 and the ABSA Cup in 2005.
He then won three Premiership titles in a row from 2007 until 2010 under coach Gavin Hunt.
His next destination was Pirates where he collected two league titles in 2010/11 and 2011/12, as well as the MTN8 in 2011.
The Nedbank Cup followed in 2011 before he secured the Telkom Knockout in 2012. He again won the Nedbank in 2014.
The player’s next port of call was the Clever Boys where he won the MTN8 in 2016 as well as the league title in 2016/17.
His international career was less successful with Bafana Bafana and a major dissapointment must have been when he was left out of the 2010 World Cup squad.
The 34-year-old will become Clinton Larsen’s second assistant with Chippa and he will also coach the club’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge team.
