The Fennec Foxes booked their spot in the AFCON 2025 quarter-final thanks to a fine 119th minute strike from 22-year-old Adil Boulbina to win the match 1-0.

The result set up a fixture against the Super Eagles who have been impressive in the continental tournament; however, former Manchester City star Mahrez is confident they can get past them in the next match.

“I think that on the whole game [against DR Congo], if the scales were to tilt on one side, it was ours,” said Mahrez according to Ebotola reports.

“We faced a good Congolese team, who played with cohesion and left little space, but we were solid. We haven’t conceded many opportunities, and we still know we have players who can make a difference.

“Nigeria? We know them well; the game will not be easy. A free kick at the last minute again? We will see, anything is possible,” concluded the 34-year-old.

Algeria will face Nigeria at the Stade de Marrakech on Saturday.
