Stellenbosch FC has announced the signing of young talents Faiz Abrahams and Vuyolwethu Andrieas to their first professional contracts.
The addition of Abrahams and Andrieas to the professional ranks further solidifies Stellenbosch’s position as a key production line for the future of South African football.
Faiz Abrahams: From U-20 AFCON Champion to First-Team Prospect
Faiz Abrahams, a 20-year-old attacker, comes to this milestone fresh from his triumph with the South Africa U-20 national team, where he helped secure the Africa Cup of Nations title in Egypt. Abrahams has already made a notable impression on the Stellenbosch first team, making two substitute appearances in the Betway Premiership this season.

His standout performances in the DStv Diski Challenge campaign, where he netted an impressive 11 goals and provided six assists, underscore his attacking prowess and potential. Speaking about his new chapter, Abrahams expressed his enthusiasm:
“I’m excited for the future at Stellenbosch FC,” he told the club’s website. “This is one of the best clubs to be at in terms of developing and promoting young players and giving them the chance to showcase their talents.
He also shared his immediate ambitions, stating, “My goal is to play more regularly in the first team next season, and I can’t wait for the new campaign to get underway,” Abrahams added.
Vuyolwethu Andrieas: A Midfield Gem Rises Through the Ranks
Also 20 years old, central midfielder Vuyolwethu Andrieas has earned his promotion to the senior squad for the first time. Andrieas has been a fixture in the Stellenbosch academy setup since joining in 2022, playing a pivotal role in the club’s success in the DStv Diski Challenge and the Premier League Next Generation Cup titles last year.
Andrieas shared his gratitude and determination, saying, “First of all, I want to thank the Almighty God for giving me this opportunity,” Andrieas said. “I’ve always said that I’m willing to give everything for the badge, and I can’t wait to do that on this next chapter of my journey.
“I’ve been in the setup for a while, and that has given me a lot of strength. Training with the first-team players has motivated me to keep working hard to ensure I’m ready to take my opportunity with both hands when it comes,” he added.
Stellenbosch FC: A Proven Track Record for South African Football Talent
Stellenbosch FC has consistently demonstrated its ability to identify, nurture, and elevate young footballers. In recent seasons, the club has seen several of its homegrown talents transition to prominent clubs in the Premier Soccer League.
Some of the high profile examples include Jayden Adams, who moved to Mamelodi Sundowns, Ashley du Preez, who joined Kaizer Chiefs, and Dean van Rooyen, who now plays for Orlando Pirates.
