Kaizer Chiefs co-head coach Cedric Kaze has praised defender Dillan Solomons for elevating his performances and delivering important goals.

Known for his blistering pace, Solomons has become a key attacking outlet, finding the net in two consecutive matches and helping Chiefs make their mark in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The 28-year-old opened his continental campaign by scoring against Al Masry in the group-stage opener and followed it up with a crucial equaliser against Zamalek on Saturday, underlining his knack for decisive contributions.

His current form has seen him cement a starting spot ahead of Thabiso Monyane and Reeve Frosler, demonstrating his ability to combine defensive solidity with attacking flair.

Solomons joined Kaizer Chiefs from Moroka Swallows in 2022, and with his contract set to expire this season, he is eager to showcase his value and leave a lasting impression at Naturena.

The player has expressed determination to make the most of his final year, aiming to contribute significantly to Chiefs’ domestic and continental ambitions.

Kaze praised Solomons for his dedication and work ethic, highlighting how the right-back has capitalised on opportunities to make a difference on the pitch.

“Actually, I was joking with him after the game that he might finish the (top) goal scorer of the CAF Confederation if he keeps that rate,” said Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze, according to Kickoff.

“He is a player that has had some tough moments a few months ago when he wasn’t playing much, but since the second game against Kabuscorp, he has been a player that shows hunger and commitment.

“He drives the team forward and gives you solutions.

“Another thing that I’m so happy about him is that he has improved immensely in his defensive demeanour and even in one-on-one is a player that is always good.

“Hard work pays off all the time.”
