Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has confirmed that the club’s group stage fixture against Zamalek will now be played at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
The match will also take place on Saturday, 29 November, instead of the initially scheduled Sunday, 30 November.
Dobsonville Stadium hosted the preliminary round match against AS Simba but is not accredited for the group stages.
The reason for the change of date is, meanwhile, to accommodate the Egyptian giants, who have a number of players set to represent Egypt at the upcoming Arab Cup in Qatar.
The Amakhosi Sporting Director said on FARPost: “Dobsonville isn’t an accredited stadium for the group stages. So, it was just for the prelims.
“I think it’s a very important question because I know the atmosphere was amazing. But unfortunately, and it’s important for us to say, Dobsonville isn’t accredited for the CAF Confed Cup stages. So it won’t be a venue that we’re able to use.”
Chiefs’ kick off their group stage campaign against Al Masry in Cairo on Sunday, 23 November.
