CAF Confed Cup: Kaizer Chiefs coach hails Golden Arrows triumph as confidence booster before ZESCO clash

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Cedric Kaze believes his team’s 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows has provided crucial momentum ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup showdown with ZESCO United.

Amakhosi secured the win at FNB Stadium on Tuesday thanks to a 38th‑minute strike from Aiden McCarthy, overcoming Abafana Besthende in a tightly contested encounter.

The result lifted Kaze’s side into third place on the standings with 27 points from 14 games, just two points adrift of leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Speaking after the game, the coach praised his players for a dominant performance, saying on SuperSport: “I believe that we were very good in the game and we were threatening in attack.

“There was no need to sit back, the best defence is to attack and keep the opponent team busy.”

Chiefs are in third place in their CAF Confederation Cup group with just one point from two games.

“It’s true that the three points of 2026 are going to give us, even the coaches, the calmness to work with less pressure,” Kaze added.

“We hope that this win is going to give us momentum, going into our Sunday game in Confederation Cup.”
