BREAKING: PSL End-of-Season Awards Postponed Amid Sundowns’ Continental Campaign

Relegation Drama: PSL Decides on Outcome of Suspended SuperSport United vs Golden Arrows Match

The Premier Soccer League has officially postponed its annual end-of-season awards ceremony, a prestigious event traditionally held in June following the conclusion of the domestic season.

This year, however, the ceremony will be delayed to a later date, yet to be announced, as the league prioritizes South African football’s representation on the continental and global stage.

The decision comes as Mamelodi Sundowns prepare for a high-stakes CAF Champions League semi-final clash against Egypt’s Pyramids FC at Loftus Versfeld this weekend.

With the possibility of progressing to the final, scheduled for June 1, the PSL has opted to reschedule the awards to ensure full participation from players, coaches, and stakeholders, many of whom could be directly involved in Sundowns’ campaign.

Shortly after their continental campaign, the Betway Premiership champions will shift their focus to the global stage, traveling to the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off from June 14 to July 13.

Sundowns’ dominance in South African football has been undeniable, and their deep run in the Champions League further cements their status as one of the continent’s elite clubs. The PSL’s decision reflects a commitment to supporting the Tshwane giants as they aim to bring continental glory back to South Africa.

“In recent seasons, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Awards Ceremony has traditionally been held during the month of June,” read the official PSL statement. “However, due to Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club’s participation in both the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2024/25 CAF Champions League Final, the League has taken the decision to postpone this season’s PSL Awards Ceremony.

“The PSL, its Member Clubs, and all stakeholders in professional football across the country are united in their support for Mamelodi Sundowns as they fly the flag for South African football at these prestigious events.

“The new date and further details for the rescheduled ceremony will be communicated in due course. For now, all eyes remain on Masandawana as they aim to bring continental and international success back to South Africa.
